-Area: 181,035 Square Kilometers. It is bordered to the North by
Thailand and Laos, to the East and the South by Vietnam, And to the South
and the West by the Gulf of Thailand.
-Population of Cambodia:
13.1 millions(2001 est.)
-Capital: Phnom Penh, 41 Square Kilometers, It is considered as the
center of Industry, Administration, Commerce and Tourism. The population
is around 1,184,945 (2001 est.)
-Language: Khmers is the official languages, inherited from the
Mon-Khmer family, enriched by the Indian Pali and the Sanskrit languages,
There are various dialects spoken in areas outside Phnom Penh.
English is the second language, followed by French & Chinese.
-Ethnic Groups: Khmers 90%, Cham, Hill Tribes, Chinese and Vietnamese
10%.
-Religion: Official religion (Theravada Buddhism 97%), Islam,
Christianity, Anismism.
-Local Time: Cambodia runs at GMT +7 hours, the same time zone as its
neighbors Thailand, Vietnam and Laos.

-Climate: Cambodia has four season: 1(November-February 17c-27c, Cool/Dry season), 2(March-May 29c-38c,

-Electricity: All the city areas are provided with minimum
electricity (220 volts) by the state. Many Public establishments are
equipped with private power generators to supplement state electricity

-Food: Rice and fish are the basic foods enjoyed by Cambodians.
Delicious noodles soups are available at local restaurant. Local specialties included curries, spicy salads, vegetables, a
variety of soups, Traditional beef, pork and poultry dishes. Seafood is also easily available. French, Chinese, Japanese, Thai
and Vietnamese foods are also available. Cambodia is also known for its
authentic French cuisine.
-Telecommunications:
-Telephones in Phnom Penh the phone card is available throughout the City,
and the cards may be Purchased at many outlets. There are also several
mobile phone systems. The Country Code: 855 and Phnom Penh area Code (IDD):

-Telephone networks, including land cellular telephone are readily
accessible in Phnom Penh, Siem - Reap, Sihanoukville, Battambang, Koh
Kong, Sray Rieng, Kompong Cham, Kompong Speu and several others provinces.
International direct dialing can be done directly from cellular Phones or
from public Phones booths, as well as in hotels and other locations.
Reversal of charges is available to the USD.
-Visa: At present, for a thirty days stay tourist visas are available
to issued on arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport for US$20. Visas
also can be issued at Cambodian Embassies overseas. Visitors crossing the
border checkpoints from Vietnam, Laos and Thailand are encouraged to
obtain entry visas at Cambodian Embassies abroad, Prior to cross.
-Airport Tax: US$25 international departure tax and USD6
Domestic air port tax.
-Health Requirements: Although no vaccinations are
officially required for entry to Cambodia, They are highly
encouraged. Visitors are advised to check with their doctor or a
travel immunization clinic regarding protection against malaria,
Typhoid, hepatitis A and B. any essential medications should be
brought with you as there is no guarantee they will be available
in Cambodia.

Cambodia you should do.
Do:
Remove your shoes when entering a temple and at other places
where you observe
Cambodia people removing their shoes.
Do:
"Sampeah" in lieu of the handshake. which is
performed by placing the palms of the
hands together, raising them to the face with the
fingertips at eye level, and inclining the
Head slightly forward. For the new generation and the normal
people just can say
Sousdey (meaning hello) instead of
sampeah.
Do:
Bargain in shops. Only department stores and expensive shops
sell at fixed prices.
Do: Ask for advice if you are uncertain about anything. The Cambodia
are very courteous and
will help you if they can.
In
Cambodia you should not do.
Don't:
Sex with children is a CRIME ( Offenders face up 20 years in prison
in Cambodia
as well criminal
Proceeding in their own countries).
Don't: Touch a Cambodia on the head.
Don't: Point or shake your finger at someone. when sitting, do not
allow your toes to point
directly
at the other person.
Don't: Stand over a seated Cambodia when talking to him/her.
Don't: Be impatient when a Cambodia pretends to understand but
obviously doesn't.
He or She is just
being polite. be patient and try again.
Don't:
Raise your voice, shout or call out to people. You will lose face if
you shout or loss
your
Temper
in public and it will accomplish nothing. If, when discussing a
problem with
Cambodians,
they smile or giggle, it is not a sign of disrespect, but rather a
nervous
reaction.
Don't: Point at someone, especially at face/head. Cambodians believe
that we all have a
guardian
