Phnom Penh is the capital and largest city of Cambodia, home to more than 2 million of Cambodia's population of over 14 million. Located on the banks of the Tonle Sab, Mekong and Bassac rivers, Phnom Penh metropolitan area is the nation center of economic, entertainment, and politics, cultural heritage, and   diplomacy   of   Cambodia.   Once   known   as   the " Pearl   of   Asia ",  it   was
considered one of the loveliest French-built cities in Indochina in the 1920s. Phnom Penh, along with Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, are significant global and domestic tourist destinations for Cambodia. Founded in 1434, the city is noted for its beautiful and historical architectures and attractions. There is a number of surviving French colonial buildings scattered along the grand boulevards.

Battambang is the second-largest city in Cambodia with a population of over 250,000. Founded in the 11th century by the Khmer Empire, Battambang is well known for being the leading rice-producing province of the country. For over 500 years, it was the main commercial hub for provinces. It is populated by Khmer with a mix of ethnic Chinese. Still today   Battambang is   the   main   hub   of   the
Northwest entire region with Phnom Penh and Thailand, and as such it's a vital link to Cambodia.

Siem Reap is a Cambodia's northwestern province and is the gateway to Angkor region. Siem Reap has colonial and Chinese-style architecture in the Old French Quarter, and around the Old Market. In the city, there are traditional  Apsara   dance   performances,  craft shops, farms, rice-paddy countryside, fishing villages and a bird sanctuary near the Tonle Sap Lake.

Kampot is a southern province which is best known forits famous black pepper and widely available in Cambodia. The fresh climate and soil type of Kampot as well as the experience from several generations of pepper farmers make this pepper unique and much sought-after by gourmets worldwide. It is also famous for its Kampot fish sauce. Kampot is the base for trips up the Dâmrei
and Bokor Mountains. Stunning panoramic views over Cambodia and Vietnam can be enjoyed from the mountain tops. Waterfalls, boating and rafting on the river can be enjoyed in town, and popular attractions are the Kompong Trach caves with their ancient ruins and the durian and pepper farms. Visitors can enjoy long stretches of golden sand and tasty local crab curry. Kampot is an up and coming tourist destination and the city has recently undergone many changes. There are a number of charming hotels, uesthouses and resorts in the towns of Kampot while home stays can be found in the rest of the province. The province is connected to the rest of the country and Vietnam by well-maintained road.

Kep is a southern province, which is located just a few kilometers from Ha Tien, the border with Vietnam, used to be Cambodia's most popular and prestigious beach town. From the early 1900s until the 1960s, Kep was a thriving resort town for the French and Cambodian elite. The ocean is lined with wide sidewalks and large statues. Kep's beaches   are  mostly  mangrove   and   black   rock.
Several islands lie off the coast, Rabbit Island, is just a short boat ride away. Tourists are drawn to the two beautiful white sand beaches, and the sea is shallow excellent for swimming. At the sea bottom are a variety of corals, sea animals and plants which attract researchers and ecologists. The town is well known for seafood - particularly the crab. In addition, Kep is home to an extensive national park. There are now nearly 40 guesthouses, resorts and hotels in Kep. It is currently one of the fastest developing touristic areas in Cambodia with a focus on mid-range to high-end businesses.

Koh Kong is one of four Cambodia's coastal provinces and located in south-western of the country. Koh Kong has a long undeveloped coastline and a mountainous, forested and largely inaccessible interior which embraces part of the Cardamom  Mountains  and a section  of   Kirirom National Park. Its tourist attractions include vast mangrove areas, stretch of beaches,  casinos   and
waterfalls, while an Export Processing Zone and new port facilities are being developed for trade. The province is an increasingly popular gateway to Cambodia from Hat Lek in eastern Thailand, in part due to the reasonably direct access to the port and beach resort town of Sihanoukville. The international border is located at Cham Yeam, about 7km from Koh Kong city. Traveling to Koh Kong has become an enjoyable journey, where bridges were built, the first stage in 2002. A landmark of Koh Kong is the longest ever built bridge in Cambodia where you would want to experience the 1,900-meter crossing the sea connecting provincial town of Koh Kong to Koh Kong Resort and the international check point. Now a new National Route 48 was completed from the town to Sre Ambel on the Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville highway, which including the 4 river crossing bridges.

SihanoukVille, southern and coastal province, also known as Kampong Som is about 230 kilometer of Phnom Penh. The province is also served by SihanoukVille International Airport, 18 kilometers from downtown. The planned flights between Sihanouk Ville and Siem Reap will encourage visitors to Angkor temples in Siem Reap to extend their stay.   SihanoukVille   attracts tourists
  with  its relaxed beach atmosphere when compared to Thailand's more developed ones. The economy of SihanoukVille is based primarily in its port for import and exports. It has also an oil container port and cargo facilities. Other activities in the economy of the province include fishing, aquaculture, agriculture, mining, oil, factories, real estate and tourism. Increasing in tourism has improved the construction of hotels and tourism infrastructures in the province. There are also more than a dozen islands off the coast of SihanoukVille for tourists to hop around. Only some of them have been so far developed for overnight stays. Many guesthouses, travel agencies and restaurants on Ochheuteal and Serendipity beaches offer trips and packages to  some of  the  islands  nearby.

Mondulkiri is a Cambodia's eastern province. It is the most sparsely populated province in the country despite being the largest in land area. The capital is the town of Sen Monorom. The population lives off the land, planting rice, fruit trees, and a variety of vegetables.  Others  grow

strawberries, coffee, rubber, and cashew nuts.

Ratanakiri is a province in northeastern Cambodia that borders Laos to the north, Vietnam to the east, Mondulkiri Province to the south, and Stung Treng Province to the west. The geography of Ratanakiri Province is diverse, encompassing rolling hills, mountains, plateaus, lowland watersheds,  and  crater lakes. Two  major  rivers, Tonle San and Tonle Srepok,  flow from east to   west   across   the
province. Like other areas of Cambodia, Ratanakiri has a monsoonal climate with a rainy season from June to October, a cool season from November to January, and a hot season from March to May. Ratanakiri tends to be cooler than elsewhere in Cambodia. The average daily high temperature in the province is 34.0 °C (93.2 °F), and the average daily low temperature is 22.1 °C (71.8 °F). Nearly half of Ratanakiri has been set aside in protected areas, which include Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary and Virachey National Park. Many families are beginning to shift production to cash crops such as cashews, mangoes, and tobacco, a trend that has accelerated in recent years. Larger-scale agriculture occurs on rubber, coffee, and cashew plantations. Ratanakiri's tourist industry is rapidly expanding: visits to the province increased from 6,000 in 2002 to 105,000 in 2008. The region's tourism development strategy focuses on encouraging ecotourism. Ox-cart and motorcycle are common means of transportation in Ratanakiri.

Katie or Kracheh is a province in northeastern Cambodia. It borders Stung Treng to the north, Mondulkiri to the east, Kampong Thom to the west, Kampong Cham and Vietnam to the south. The province has a monsoonal climate, with a cool season from November  to  March,  a  hot season from March to May, and a rainy season from Mayto October.   Kratie is known for its  attractive   riverside

scenery and its green villages and paddies. Kratie has the potential to be an ecotourism destination.
 

Stung Treng is a northern province of Cambodia. The Cambodia/Lao border is located in the north of Stung Treng Province. The Mekong river crosses the province roughly in its midst.

Kampong Cham is the eastern province. The Mekong River bisects the province. Its capital is Kampong Cham city. With a population of over 1.6 million inhabitants, Kampong Cham is Cambodia's most populous province.
